This years 'Brass in The Woods' concert was enjoyed by all that attended. The weather was unfortunately less than desireable, with rain all night, but this didn't dampen our spirits and rousing choruses of 'Land of Hope and Glory' and 'Rule Brittania' finished the evening. This year we had a change of band, with the Knottingley Silver Band. At the half time interval the crowd was entertained by the local cadet force giving a marching demonstration. Many thanks to all who attended and for making the night so enjoyable.

This year Mirfield Rotary Club sponored 12 children from Ravenshall School near Dewsbury to attend the annual Rotary District 1040 ‘Kids Out’ day at Lightwater Valley. The kids all enjoyed themselves on the rides, whether it was a rollercoaster or a go-kart, in fact the only looks of fear came from the Rotarians who accompanied them on the rides! |

At the meeting of the 6th July 2009, Gill Poole became the new President of the Rotary Club of Mirfield. The President's gong was presented to Gill by outgoing President Roy Carrington. |

The cheese and wine evening held on the 9th May was a great success with over £180 raised for projects helping the youth of Mirfield. Many thanks to Liz Higgins for allowing the committee to use her house for the event and thanks also to those Rotarians who helped set up and to those who turned up and supported the Youth Opportunities committee. |
